What
is Reiki? The word Reiki is Japanese; it can be translated as ‘spiritually
guided life force energy’. Reiki was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the 19th
century and although it has its roots in ancient Buddhist teachings it is not a
faith based system of healing. The Reiki practitioner channels energy through
her hands to the recipient activating the body’s natural ability to heal
itself. It works wherever the recipient needs it most, releasing blocked
energies, cleansing the body of toxins and working to create a state of balance.
It touches all levels; spiritual, emotional, mental and physical. What
can Reiki treat? It is helpful in most conditions including stress, back pain,
depression and insomnia. It is suitable and beneficial for pregnancy. Clients
undergoing cancer treatment find it beneficial as it helps them cope with the
physical and emotional effects of the disease and of treatments such as
chemotherapy. If you are well, Reiki is deeply relaxing and helps you to
maintain your good health. What
does a treatment involve? You lie fully clothed on a treatment couch, covered with a blanket.
I place my hands gently on different parts of your head and body channelling the
energy. You will generally feel a pleasant sensation of warmth or gentle
tingling in the area being touched. As your energy balances, stress and tension
are released and there is a deep sense of relaxation and well being. You may
find your mind wanders and even resolves issues, and you may even become so
relaxed you fall asleep. How
many sessions will I need? The number of sessions depends on your state of health. Long
standing ill health may require a number of treatments. Regular sessions are
beneficial at intervals of one to four weeks. Treatment time is one hour.
Reiki
training You may decide to be tuned in directly to Reiki and learn how to use it for self-treatment or to treat others. You can do this by attending a Reiki workshop. Anyone can learn Reiki; it is not necessary to have any special knowledge or psychic ability. It is taught in three stages or degrees, each of which is a complete training in itself. The first level involves attuning you to Reiki to re-awaken your natural ability to heal. The second level is to raise the energy higher; it enables you to send healing at a distances and to heal the mind/emotions across time and space. The third level is for those who wish to teach Reiki. The training is given over one or two day workshop with guidance and practice in giving treatments. Please contact me for further details. Details of forthcoming workshops may be found in the workshops page and one to one training is also available. |
